PV WEEE CONSORTIUM
Safety and sustainability for your photovoltaic modules
Since 2012, Eco-PV has been the ideal partner for consortium members and clients operating in the photovoltaic sector. We offer collection, transportation, and treatment services for end-of-life modules nationwide and are authorized by the MASE to immobilize the financial guarantee portion that owners and producers of plants are required to pay to cover the management costs of photovoltaic WEEE (waste electrical and electronic equipment).
Financial Guarantee for the management of end-of-life incentivized photovoltaic modules
With the amendment that came into effect on February 7, 2024, modifying Article 40, paragraph 3 of Legislative Decree 49 of 2014, the Responsible Entity, owner of incentivized photovoltaic modules under the Conto Energia scheme, can choose to pay the Financial Guarantee, corresponding to half of the amount retained by the GSE, into the Trust of a Collective System recognized by the Ministry of Environment and Energy Security (MASE), such as Eco-PV.
Choosing Eco-PV means depositing the Financial Guarantee into a Trust, which is a non-attachable, restricted fund regulated by stringent regulations. The amount immobilized in the Trust allows Eco-PV to cover all costs for the collection, transportation, and treatment of guaranteed photovoltaic WEEE (waste electrical and electronic equipment) and, at the same time, to offer the participating Responsible Entity numerous additional services, such as complete supervision of the recycling chain for photovoltaic WEEE and the production and management of the related documentation in accordance with WEEE regulations and GSE guidelines.
To simplify the operational process for depositing the Financial Guarantee into the Trust, Eco-PV has created a free dedicated website that allows the Responsible Entity to register and record all relevant data concerning the modules to be guaranteed in just a few simple steps.
Eco-contribution for Producers of photovoltaic modules
Producers who place EEE (Electrical and Electronic Equipment) and photovoltaic modules on the national market can fulfill their funding obligations for end-of-life management by joining the Eco-PV collective system, paying the eco-contribution required by the WEEE Directive into the Eco-PV TRUST, and directly delegating the Consortium to operate on their behalf.
Eco-PV provides its members with the ECO-PV TRUST, which is established and structured according to the guidelines of the aforementioned GSE Technical Regulations.
